Our main focus is the KATP channel, which is responsible for metabolo-electrical coupling (the coupling of intracellular energy metabolism to membrane excitability and secretion). Using genetically engineered mouse models, we investigate the roles of roles for this channel in cardioprotection, the regulation of blood flow, and immune cell function. We also pursue molecular studies to investigate regulation of channel function and trafficking by associated proteins.
